LDPE has long and short branches on its molecular chain, with low crystallinity, and its molecular weight is generally between 50,00 and 500,000. It is a kind of waxy solid resin with a milky white and translucent appearance. It non-toxic, with a low softening point, good flexibility, impact toughness, and excellent low-temperature resistance. It can operate within the temperature range -60ºC to 80ºC. It has excellent electrical insulation properties. LDPE has poor mechanical strength and is not resistant to high temperatures. It also poor environmental stress cracking resistance, adhesion, and printability. Its performance needs to be improved through surface treatment. LDPE has very low water absorption, almost no absorption, and excellent chemical stability, such as stability to acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents. It has poor permeability to water vapor and air It is flammable and has a paraffin odor when burning. It is prone to aging and degradation under the action of sunlight and heat, which will causeoloration.
